Riga International Airport (Lidosta "Riga", RIX) is located very close to the city center - only 13 km away. It is convenient and cheap to fly from this airport to other cities in Europe. It is easy to get to and from it both by bus and taxi. We will tell you about all the methods - choose the most convenient for you.

Riga airport ↔ city center

By bus

You can get from Riga airport to the city center and vice versa by bus № 22... Route: Abrenes iela - Lidosta. Lidosta is an airport in Latvian. See the Riga - Airport bus schedule here. He walks every 10-30 minutes. Travel time is about 30 minutes. The last bus from the airport leaves at 00:10, so at night you can only get a taxi.

Where can I find a stop? At the airport, boarding is behind parking lot P1 opposite the exit from the terminal, disembarking is right at the entrance. In the city center you need a stop Grēcinieku iela... It is located not far from the Town Hall Square and the House of the Blackheads - practically in the Old Town. Please note that in the direction to the airport, the bus stop is combined with a tram - that is, minibuses and buses travel on the rails. This confused us a little - until the last moment we did not know which side to wait for the bus.

Tickets and prices. Everything is simple here: in Riga there are e-talons - cardboard or plastic tickets with a chip. It must be applied to the validator in the transport. Works in trams, trolleybuses and buses. There are many types of them:

  1. Yellow disposable e-talons for one trip. Cost: € 1.15 at points of sale and € 2 at the driver.
  2. Blue reusable e-talons. There are temporary and for several trips: for 3 and 5 days - 10 and 15 euros, respectively; for 2 trips - 2.30 euros, for 4 - 4.60 euros, for 10 - 10.90 euros, etc. Read more about the types of tickets and prices on the official website.

Where to buy tickets? The easiest way to buy a yellow ticket is from the driver (2 euros). But cheaper in a machine at a bus stop, in Narvesen kiosks or in the Welcome to Riga! on the 1st floor in the arrivals sector E - 1.15 euros. Also sold in kiosks Preses apvienība, post offices Latvijas Pasts and ticket sales points "Rīgas satiksme". We bought from Narvesen. We did not use reusable coupons, so we cannot say anything about them. Here are all the ticket sales points.

By minibus

Another way to get from Riga airport to the center is by minibus № 241, which goes on the route Centrs - Lidosta ("Center - Airport"). Departure to the airport from the Esplanāde stop. At the airport, minibuses stop in the same place as bus 22. The minibus runs every 10-15 minutes, on the way - about 30 minutes. The last minibus from the airport is at 22:08. Ticket prices, prices and where to buy - see above.

By taxi

A taxi from Riga airport to the center is a comfortable but expensive way to get to the city. Suitable for those who have a lot of luggage, arrived with a family or a company, or simply appreciate convenience.

There is no shortage of taxis at the airport - there is always a line of green Baltic taxis in front of the exit. We advise you to book a car in advance at the Kiwi Taxi service - it is safe and reliable. The driver will meet you with a sign and help you carry your luggage. Perhaps this is the most convenient way to get to the center of Riga from the airport.

Riga Airport ↔ Bus Station

To get from Riga airport to the bus station, you need a minibus № 222 (Centrālā stacija - Lidosta). In the center, she stops at Grēcinieku iela and 13.janvāra iela, then at the Central Bus Station.
