The Price of Travel portal has once again published a rating of the cheapest cities in Europe - the Europe Backpacker Index.
For Russian travelers, this information is especially relevant: the crisis is raging, the ruble is getting cheaper, and the desire to travel does not fade away. Fortunately, there are still places in Europe, visiting which does not require too high costs. Take note and travel!
How is the ranking of budget cities in Europe built? The resource collects and publishes data on the cost of one day spent in a particular European city, based on the following criteria:
- the cost of one night in a cheap hotel / hostel with good reviews and a convenient location;
- the cost of two public transport passes;
- the cost of visiting one attraction;
- the cost of three courses (naturally, inexpensive. 20% is added to this cost in case of a long rest);
- the cost of three bottles of cheap local beer (or wine). For non-drinkers - coffee and dessert or other entertainment of an equivalent price, for example, a concert.

1. Kiev, Ukraine
Due to inflation and events in Ukraine, Kiev tops (and most likely will continue to lead) the list of the cheapest cities in Europe.

- Transportation costs: 4 hryvnia.
- Food: 192 hryvnia.
- Drinks / entertainment: 96 hryvnia.
- Sightseeing: 10 hryvnia.

2. Bucharest, Romania
The Old Town in Bucharest and the Parliament Building are a must-see. The good news is that recently there has been a tendency to reduce prices for hostels.

3. Sofia, Bulgaria
Sofia is a beautiful European capital, and also very budgetary. Almost everything is cheap here, with the exception of flights, but Bulgaria is a rather small country, so you can get around the country by buses.

4. Krakow, Poland
Krakow continues the list of the cheapest cities in Europe. Low prices for hostels, bars and restaurants, coupled with charming architecture and local culture, make this city very attractive for budget travelers.

6. Warsaw, Poland
Although the bulk of tourists head to Krakow, the capital of Poland also has something to brag about, in addition to low prices. The city center, restored after the Second World War, is very impressive.

This second most popular city in the Czech Republic is a must-see - it's hard to imagine a more charming place. In addition, Cesky Krumlov pleasantly surprises with reasonable prices even in the city center.

Due to inflation, our St. Petersburg also got into the top ten cheapest cities in Europe according to Price of Travel. The city, according to the portal, is much more friendly towards tourists than Moscow, and cheaper. However, the entrance to the Hermitage for tourists is very expensive, and restaurants with hotels in general are not very cheap.
