Recently I went on an excursion along the Circum-Baikal Railway (Circum-Baikal Railway), decided to post a few photos, give some recommendations, and of course, you will find out how much such an excursion around Baikal costs. I'll make a reservation right away that the excursion took place not by train, as is usually done by tourists, but by the motor ship Barguzin-3. Of course, I recommend taking a tour of the Circum-Baikal Railway by train, a very beautiful old train travels at a speed of 30 kilometers per hour and makes it possible to enjoy the beauty of the Baikal coast.

Some tourists manage to jump out of the train on the go, take pictures and then sit back down. The train makes several stops from 15 minutes to 2.5 hours (the very last stop). At the end point, all tourists go out and begin to explore the whole area, some make a halt and a snack, the end point at the train is also the end point for a water excursion on the motor ship Barguzin-3, which will be discussed in this article.

Excursion along the Circum-Baikal Railway from the river station

The excursion to the Circum-Baikal railway starts from the river station in the city of Irkutsk from the Solnechny microdistrict, here at the ticket office you can buy tickets for this excursion, and you need to buy tickets for this excursion at least a month in advance, there are too many people who want to see everything with their own eyes, especially Chinese.

Wherever I am on Lake Baikal, I always see groups of tourists of Chinese origin, if you take any excursion around Lake Baikal, then you will definitely have a Chinese in your group. An amazing journey along the Circum-Baikal Railway takes place all day, so we forget about business, they pick you up in the morning and bring you only in the evening, at about 7 pm. At the expense of food, you shouldn't worry too much, they give rations here, but you can't live on them, so I recommend especially for hungry tourists to take supplies of water and food with them.

Prices for an excursion along the Circum-Baikal railway on a motor ship

The price for an excursion to the Circum-Baikal Railway for an adult for the 2015 season is 2,200 rubles, for this money you will be offered dry rations and several stops in the most picturesque places of Lake Baikal, the motor ship Barguzin-3 is designed for 100 comfortable places, just do not rush to take your seats , all the same you will not sit on them, all tourists usually stand the whole excursion on the deck.

Although it all depends on the weather and wind, I was lucky, it was sunny and I spent the whole day on the deck, the only drawback is that it is impossible to stand for a very long time, the wind blows even through a warm jacket, so dress warmly for the duration of the trip on the ship. As for the excursion program, all the time you will be entertained by a young girl who will tell you about Lake Baikal and show you the sights you will pass by, one of them will be the famous ‘shaman stone’.

Photos from the excursion

I apologize in advance for the quality of the photos, the main camera was being repaired, so I had to get my old friend 'Nikon' and do a little work with him for you. And here is the main source of the excursion - Motor ship barguzin -3 with a guide on board.

As I already said, the whole tourist group was lucky with the weather, they could sunbathe and breathe fresh air, but during the movement of the ship they had to wear a warm jacket.

The end point of the excursion along the Circum-Baikal Railway is a bridge, which is part of the Circum-Baikal Railway, you can walk along it, old trains running on coal used to run here. Now this architectural monument serves as a photography spot for tourists.

You can't climb the tunnel! I didn’t know about it, I climbed up to take a picture, but then the guide started yelling at me so much that I had to get off in an instant. It turns out that there is even a fine for this.

The motor ship is waiting for the tourist group at the end point.

These are the trains that went here before, you can climb on the train and take pictures, at least they didn't tell me anything after the tunnel.

It's +29 outside, and I'm standing in a warm jacket and trying to take a portrait photo.

This ration is given to each tourist for the whole day, as a rule, they begin to use it at the very end point, everyone goes to the shore and starts a meal, some tourists get into groups and get strong drinks, then they sing songs. I resort to other activities - sightseeing.

If you go far into the tunnel, then you will not even see your nose, it’s so dark that it’s scary, I don’t remember what length there is, but having gone 500 meters farther than everyone, I decided to turn back to the light and people, it’s too bad rustles sometimes emit walls.

Well, one more article has been added to the treasury of Lake Baikal, now, take a tour of the Circum-Baikal railway and share your impressions in the comments for you. If you liked the article, be sure to share it on social networks and do not forget to subscribe to fresh travel ideas.
