Having just returned from our holidays on Olkhon, we hasten to share our impressions of the Baikalov Ostrog camp site, where, in fact, a week of rest passed like one breath.
Rest at the tourist center Baikalov Ostrog
The tourist base is one of the most favorite tourist centers on our website. travel-picture.ru... Here we try to relax every summer, the only thing that scares off is the road to Olkhon Island, or rather its absence. The road on Olkhon does not spare anyone, so we got one - a punctured wheel and a slightly jammed underside of the car.
The tourist base Baikalov Ostrog is an international-class hotel, tourists from all over the world like to stay here, in our memory during our vacation we managed to communicate through an interpreter with many Chinese, Spaniards, Indians? who rested with us. The main influx of tourists to this camp site begins in mid-July, when the water on Lake Baikal warms up to its maximum of +20 degrees. In order to book a place at the Baikalov Ostrog tourist center, you will have to think about it a little in advance, about 2 months before the trip to Olkhon, it is already worth redeeming the vouchers.
Is the food tasty?
The food at the Baikalov Ostrog Tourist Base is very tasty, only breakfast was included in our voucher, but for an additional fee we also had lunch and dinner here. To be honest, the prices for food are not small, so we didn’t often eat here and went to eat at local cafes with real Buryat cuisine, and very tasty at that.
A set lunch costs 450 rubles per person, dinner 400 rubles and breakfast 350 rubles. Prices from the restaurant menu: salads from 350 rubles, a bottle of wine from 3000 rubles, hot dishes from 580 rubles, snacks from 350 rubles, beer from 100 rubles ...
In local cafes, ordinary borscht costs 120 rubles, sugudai 100 rubles, pies 30 rubles, compote 20 rubles, poses 40 rubles per piece, pork in a pot 160 rubles, buhler 150 rubles. For two, a hearty lunch costs about 500 rubles.
Let's talk about delicious breakfasts, they are included from the second day of stay, the food is very satisfying and tasty. At your choice for your morning meal, you will be offered sandwiches, several types of porridge, donuts, bread and butter, eggs, coffee or hot chocolate, tea, casserole and much more than you can fill your stomach and not worry about hunger until dinner.
Forgot to mention, all meals are accompanied by a gorgeous view of Lake Baikal from the windows of the dining room, so you can eat slowly and admire the gorgeous view of Lake Baikal.
Excursions to the tourist center Baikalov Ostrog
For walks, an excursion program is provided for all the sights of Olkhon Island; for those who love to sunbathe, there are sun loungers right on the shore of Lake Baikal.
In the evening, lights are lit on the territory and the nightlife begins. Very often, various artists come here with entertainment programs and themed evenings, we managed to visit one of the music programs.
A group of two guys came here, who played live the balalaikas, accordion, piano, it was very interesting to visit this concert.
Evening walks are accompanied by beautifully illuminating lanterns on the street, here you can go down straight to Lake Baikal and enjoy the sunset.
So we did, but most of the time we still went to see off the sunset on the Shamanka rock, where, in addition to us, all the resting tourists came to see off the sunset.
At sunset, Olkhon Island transforms into something amazing and fabulous, most of the tourists come here to take pictures, sit and think about their own things, sing songs in companies or just put up a tent and fall asleep? seeing off the sunset of the outgoing day.
Hostel prices
In terms of placement in the rooms, everything is perfectly organized, the rooms are cozy and for different wallets, we ordered rooms with an improved layout for 4450 rubles per day, in such rooms it is quiet, there is a toilet with a shower, a refrigerator and a TV, which we have never turned on.
The cost of living in the high season starts from 4950 rubles per room in a cottage and 3 thousand rubles for sectional accommodation.
I remembered the blankets very well, at night it is cool here and the blankets save you well from the cold, they are very warm and soft, the only drawback is the pillows, they are small.
Also, all rooms of the Baikalov Ostrog camp site provide their own towel, soap, toilet paper, shampoo, toothbrush with paste. Therefore, when going on vacation, you can not take the listed things with you.
The camp site is located at the entrance to the village of Khuzhir, it is simply impossible to drive through it, the camp site is located right next to the main road. Now let's tell you what we didn't like on vacation.
At a hostel of international class, there should be at least trained and friendly staff, this is not the case here, the local population working here as administrators does not know the word ”Hello good Bye”.
The second moment that we remember is that the numbers are not prepared on time. Upon check-in, we were given the keys and we went to the room, having come to the room, we found pillows lying on the floor along with a blanket and garbage bags.
We had to wait a long time for someone to show up and finish the job to the end, but the attendants appeared only when we turned to the head administrator of the camp site.
The tourist base at the time of this writing is one year old, and the doors in the rooms are no longer closed, and the wallpaper is torn off, but we already want to convey this to tourists on vacation - save this wonderful place to stay, do not break and do not shit where you are resting.
Recreation center Baikalov Ostrog still remains our favorite vacation spot, here you can see a beautiful view of Baikal at sunset, sleep well at night in the fresh Baikal air and time flies unnoticed.
